2013 Christmas Appeal "stuffing" party

One card, two card, three card, four
when we work together, it's not a chore

Mid-November at Sisters of the Holy Names means it is time for sisters, associates, and friends from near and far, to gather and 'fulfill' the SNJM Christmas Appeal. Four items get stuffed into each of the 10,000 envelopes (wow! that's a lot of work)... we appreciate every heart and hand that comes to help. With serious concentration and nimble fingers, the work was finished in no time. We celebrate with 'take-out' pizza from T-Birds (a favorite local pizza parlour), housemade salad, cold beverages and door prizes.

This is a great occasion for all of us to spend some quality time together, we thank each and every person from the bottom of our hearts.

2013 Marie Rose Guild Harvest Tea and Boutique

Nineteen fifth grade girls from Saint Mary's demonstrated their outstanding hospitality skills serving tea and coffee at the 2013 Harvest Tea held on October 24th at the Convent in Los Gatos. An assortment of cookies, fruit bread and other desserts accompanied the hot beverages. Sister Kathryn noticed we were blessed with three generations—Maureen O’Connell, her daughter Anne Milligan and 5th grade granddaughter Megan.

The Harvest Tea was preceded by the Marie Rose Guild Boutique. The guild members and our artistic Sisters had been very busy making an assortment of interesting and useful gift items. All proceeds from the tea and boutique help to support our retired and infirmed senior sisters.

2013 Southern California Marie Rose Guild Luncheon

The Southern California Marie Rose Guild got together at the Doubletree Hotel on October 18, for an autumn lunch to celebrate the life of associate Vicki Boore. Sister Katherine Ondreyco came down from Northern California to speak about how much Vicki Boore helped at Los Gatos and what a treasure she was to all!  Sister Miriam Mark also shared with us the many years that Vicki had been president of the Marie Rose Guild and how much she did behind the scenes! Vicki's two daughters Lisa and Jennifer and son-in-law Bob and granddaughter Natalie were also with us and accepted a beautiful memorial plaque. It was a special afternoon of remembrance!

2013 Annual Benefit Dinner

2013 was the year of “Des sœurs au grand cœur”—“The sisters with heart.”On Friday, September 20; 117 guests attended the Annual Benefit Dinner, which featured a French theme—a nod to our French-Canadian roots.

In the garden, hors d’œuvres and drinks were served and everyone got a chance at the famous wine toss! Dinner was served in the Sisters dining room (last year by accident, this year by popular demand!). Each guest was treated to a polymer clay heart handmade by the retired sisters as a token of appreciation and reminder that our donors are always in our hearts.

Proceeds will help to support our retired and infirm senior sisters.

On Thursday, May 16, with raindrops falling, the Los Gatos Marie Rose Guild hosted its annual Strawberry Luncheon and Boutique. The weather outside did not hamper the warm festivities inside.
