2012 Harvest Tea & Boutique

The room was filled to capacity for the 2012 Harvest Tea held on October 25th at the Convent in Los Gatos, California. Tea was served by the fifth grade girls from Saint Mary's, who were charming and very attentive.

The Harvest Tea was preceeded by the Marie Rose Guild Boutique. The room was packed with interesting and useful gift items, greeting cards, jams, fudge, scones and an assortment of other baked goods, all made by the Guild members and our senior sisters. In addition, there was a special section this year of items from Scotland -- brand new woolen blankets, skirts, sweaters, hats and pins-- that had been generously donated for the sale.

All proceeds from the tea and boutique help to support our retired and infirmed senior sisters.

2012 Annual Benefit Dinner

This year's benefit dinner was a great success! Due to water damage in the Casa Room, the social and dinner were was held in the original setting - the convent's courtyard garden and main dining room. Guests commented that the food was some of the best they've ever had. The centerpieces were simple - charming baskets of apples. Besides having apples to take home, guests at each table were given a box of items to share that were handmade for them by the Sisters as a way of saying thank you.

All proceeds and donations from the event will “Fund a Sister” and help provide for the needs and care of the Sisters living at the Holy Names Convent in Los Gatos. Bless you for your continued support for the care of our senior Sisters.

2012 Strawberry Luncheon & Boutique

This year's Strawberry Luncheon and Boutique was another great success!  As in the past few years, the luncheon was sold out with178 attendees.

The boutique again featured unique items handcrafted by the Tuesday Guild Group (led by Sister Joan Katheryn), the ever-popular jams made by Marie Whitworth, and assorted baked goods made by Ellen Fattal and the Sisters.

This year the hors d’oeuvres were provided and served by Phil Miccichi and friends from St. Mary’s School and parish and Dana Carollo and friends set up and served the luncheon.

Baskets and door prizes were artistically prepared by Janet Campbell, plus one guest at each table received a special door prize donated by a local vendor.

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Strawberry Luncheon and Boutique by purchasing a ticket, making a donation, or helping with the event itself. All proceeds from this fundraiser help to support the retired and infirm Sisters living at the convent.

2011 Christmas Appeal Stuffing and Thank You Party

In early November, a record 78 Sisters and lay volunteers gathered for the annual "stuffing" of the Christmas Appeal envelopes. It takes a large crew to stuff the eleven thousand, or so, envelopes with the Christmas Card letter, two paper ornament halves, and return envelope that are sent to our many friends and benefactors at Christmas time, and this year's volunteers did the job in record time--less than 2 hours!

In preparation, for the big stuffing, SNJM Sisters, along with some special helpers, had already spent a day folding the boxes and boxes of return envelopes.

The Sisters and lay volunteers enjoy having this time to visit with one another, and that helps to make the time fly by. In addition, there is the lure of the annual pizza and ice cream party to thank the volunteers for a job well done.
