Harvest Tea and Boutique, October 20, 2011

It was a beautiful day for the Harvest Tea and Boutique. "Earlybirds" gathered outside and socialized as they awaited the opening of the doors to the boutique, then flocked in to purchase Marie's famous jams, delicious scones, fudge and other delicacies prepared by Ellen and the Sisters, and a myriad of items handcrafted by the Marie Rose Guild.

Fifth-grade girls from St. Mary's helped set up the plates of assorted sweets and savories for the Harvest Tea. They greeted attendees and served tea; making sure everyone felt welcome and was well taken care of. Afterwards, the girls distributed the many door prizes and raffle baskets.

Strawberry Luncheon and Boutique, 12 May 2011

The Strawberry Luncheon and Boutique was a great success!  As last year, the luncheon was sold out with174 attendees, and guests were lined up to shop at the Boutique even before it opened.

The boutique featured unique items handcrafted by the Tuesday Guild Group (led by Sister Joan Katheryn) and the ever-popular array of jams and jellies made by Marie Whitworth and Rita Lynott. There were also many items made by the Sisters--greeting cards and other original works of art, chocolate dipped strawberries, fudge, and an assortment of delicious baked goods that included apple turnovers, biscotti, and scones.

After shopping, attendees moved out to the garden for punch and an assortment of tasty hors d’oeuvres, provided and served by Maureen Tabari and friends from St. Mary’s. Dana Carollo, and friends from St. Mary’s School and parish, set up and served the luncheon.

There were lovely drawing baskets and plenty of door prizes artistically prepared by Janet Campbell. In addition, one guest at each table received a special door prize of a gift certificate donated by a local vendor.

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Strawberry Luncheon and Boutique by purchasing a ticket, making a donation, or helping with the event itself. All proceeds from this fundraiser help to support the retired and infirm Sisters living at the convent.

2010 Christmas Appeal Stuffing and Thank You Party

Sisters and lay volunteers had a merry time stuffing thousands of envelopes for the SNJM Christmas Appeal. It is a great opportunity to visit with friends who return year, after year to help stuff and the workers also enjoy a pizza and ice cream thank you party to celebrate a job well done.

Harvest Tea, 21 October 2010

The Northern California chapter of the Marie Rose Guild hosted its annual Harvest Tea and Boutique on October 21st at the Convent in Los Gatos, California. The boutique offered a delightful array of handcrafted gift items, greeting cards, homemade jams, fudge, and baked goods all made by the Guild members and our senior sisters.

The ever-popular Harvest Tea followed at 2:00. Tea was served by the fifth grade girls from Saint Mary's, who were charming and very attentive.

Proceeds from the events help to support our retired and infirmed senior sisters.
